Chanel’ Lynnae Montgomery, BSW

Chanel’ was born on February 11, 1993 at Med Nellis Group AFB Hospital in LasVegas, NV. She is the youngest born to George & Yolanda Montgomery and baby sister to Brittney and Antoine. Growing up in Community, she professed Jesus Christ as her personal Savior during VBS when she was 11 years old and was baptized on June 13, 2004. She was active in auxiliaries in church. She sang in both the Junior & Teen choirs and served on the Junior Usher Board. Chanel’ has been and still is a go-getter - always driven to do things to the best of her ability. She attended Pre-K at Smyrna Elementary. Kindergarden-5th grade were spent at Sarah J. Price where she was placed in the Advance Program and remained in Advance Studies through middle school at Newburg Middle and until graduating from duPont Manual High School. During these years, she began to enjoy taking on challenges and believed in trying new things. She was elected and served as VP of the Newburg Youth Council (NYC) upon its establishment. Then, upon election was the longest serving President in the organization. She excelled in her studies at all grade levels. She held 2 jobs beginning as a junior in high school while maintaining a 3.8 GPA. She was active in several auxiliaries in school ranging from participating on the Cheerleading, Dance Teams, and Step teams, to being active on the Steering committee, holding a class office position, and singing in the Gospel Ensemble choir from elementary through high school. Chanel’ was accepted to and attended the University of Kentucky for her secondary education studies. While working toward her degree, she was afforded the opportunity to experience serving and filling many roles: Inmate counselor at the Fayette County Detention Center, truancy officer with Fayette County Public Schools, and counselor at Louisville Day Treatment with the Dept of Juvenile Justice. Also while at UK, Chanel’ became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Where she filled officer positions of Vice President of her organization and was elected to serve as 1st Vice-President of the National Pan-Hellenic Council, all Black Greek members combined. Chanel’ graduated from the University of Kentucky, Cum Laude, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Work in May of 2016. “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” Matt 6:33 NLT
